Rethinking South Warrington's Future

Timeline & Upcoming Events

With so much going on it is sometimes difficult to keep up with what is happening. To assist please find a schedule which should make things a little clearer. Older events appear first, so page down;

  • 4th March 2019 - Revised Local Plan issued with the minutes for the upcoming WBC Executive committee meeting. Formally called the PDO, the document is now entitled 'Warrington Local Plan - Proposed Submission Version'.

  • 11th March 2019 - Executive Committee approved the PSV. Whilst disappointing, it is not surprising.

  • 25th March 2019- The PSV went in front of the WBC councillors for approval. This was granted, unsurprisingly, with figures of 33 for, 14 against, 6 abstentions and 2 absences. It is felt that the majority of those not voting were against the plan but put 'party politics' above the interests of the town. It can therefore be said that at least a third of the councillors were against the plan. This is sizable considering the political make up of the town.

  • 26th March 2019 - onwards. Assuming the councillors have given their approval the night before, it is expected that the PSV will be formally published.

  • 26th Match 2019 onwards - The Warrington South Parish Councils will be leaflet dropping every home in the relevant Parishes to help esure the message get out. It is understood that WBC will be doing something similar across the town. However, it is imagined the content will be framed in a different way!

  • 4th April 2019 - Closing date for representations to the Planning Inspectorate regarding the Stobarts appeal. Please see aour Stobarts page for more information.

  • 15th April 2019 - It is expected that a formal 8 week public consultation will begin. It is at this point the public will be invited to attend open sessions at a large venue (likely to be the Wolves' Stadium). This will be your chance to quiz WBC directly on the PSV and what it means for you. We are hoping that WBC perform better than during the PDO, but we are not 'holding our breath'.

  • 15th April 2019 onwards- A Leaflet will be delivered to ALL South Warrington homes communicating details of the Plan/PSV, WBCs consulations and the Parish Councils/RWSFs Briefing sessions/workshops.

  • 15th April 2019 onwards - In conjunction with the Warrington South Parish Councils, RSWF will be helping to facilitate public Breifing Sessions/workshops on the PSV, what it really means for South Warrington and grounds for how you can comment/object. These will be in the form of FREE ticketed events at large venues in the South of the borough. We will issue information as we have it however preliminary details are as follows;

    • 27th April - Lymm High School - Two Sessions
    • 4th May - Bridgewater School

    • 11th May - Bridgewater School

    • 18th May - Bridgewater School

  • 23rd May 2019 - Closing date for Stobarts Comments (Note: Extended with help from RSWF councillors to 31st May

  • 31st May 2019 - Extended deadline for Stobart application comments

  • 3rd June 2019 - End of the Consultation Period on the local plan and LPT4.

  • 12th June 2019 - Original closing date for Comments on Six56 Langtree Development.

  • 17th June 2019- Closing date for comments on the Local Plan and Local Transport Plan (LPT4).

  • 21st June 2019 - New closing date for Comments on Six56 Langtree Development.

  • October 2019 - Assuming no major changes the PSV will be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for examination.

  • Early 2020 - The Planning Inspectorate and presumably responses to the consultation.

  • Summer 2020 - WBC to consult on any modifications they will make to the plan.

  • Late 2020 - Formal adoption of the plan. The document will now become Warrington Local Plan.

Therefore there are a number of key stages for us, the people of South Warrington, to be involved and RSWF will be around to guide and inform. Please help us to help you... Join with us or donate. Many thanks.
